Paul Van den Heuvel established
the publishing company VdH|Books in 2007. His
experience in the book industry dates from 1986,
the year in which he published the book Fiscus,
uw vriend, uw vijand. The book was a bestseller,
which was subsequently translated and reprinted
several times. He was asked to join the Standaard
Uitgeverij as Director, where he mainly published
informative books. As he wished to work independently,
he founded Roularta Books in 1987 together with
Rik De Nolf (Roularta Media Group). At the end
of 1990 he founded a television production company
together with Paul Jambers and stopped publishing
books – for the time being at least.
At the end of 2006 Imschoot publishers/printers
declared bankruptcy, prompting Van den Heuvel
to purchase its collection of old printing presses,
which produced numerous beautiful art books,
internationally renowned among collectors and
art lovers.
A new publishing house was born, where quality
takes priority over quantity. VdH|Books wishes
to be a small publisher of qualitative books,
which appeal to an educated audience. Our aim
is to publish books that are interesting as
far as form and content are concerned, in the
fields of art and culture, interior and architecture,
fine dining, photography and history.
